Insight Community Survey Results
River Valley Ice Surfaces was one of several topics covered in the march 2018 Mixed Topic Insight Community Survey. The survey was open from March 20 - 27, 2018.
At the time the survey was launched, survey invitations were sent to 7,507 Insight Community members.
A total of 2,180 respondents completed the survey:
- 2,169 members (or 29% of the invited Insight Community members).
- 11 other individuals who accessed the survey via a link. No demographic information was gathered for these 11 individuals.

Question 1:
Respondents were supplied with the notion of iceways and where they are located throughout the city.
"A list of ice
surfaces were provided for the respondent to indicate their level of awareness of the ice surface at the location."

Question 2:
If the response to any of Q1's location(s) was "Have used it before", then respondents were asked to select one
response only to the following question:
"On average, how often do you use the outdoor ice surfaces in the River Valley
during the winter?"
Question 3:
If the response to any of Q1's location(s) was "Have used it before", then respondents were asked to select one response only to the following question:
"When do you use outdoor River Valley ice surfaces?"
- Weekday mornings (before noon)
- Weekday afternoons (noon-5pm)
- Weekday evenings (after 5pm)
- Saturday/Sunday mornings (before noon)
- Saturday/Sunday afternoon (noon-5pm)
- Saturday/Sunday evening (after 5pm)
Question 4:
Respondents were asked to rate their level of agreement on a scale of 1 to 5 or Don't know, to the following statements:
- The overall experience of using River Valley ice surfaces is excellent
- The locations of River Valley ice surfaces are adequate to serve Edmontonians
- River valley ice surfaces are accessible to everyone
- River Valley ice surfaces are safe for users
- It is easy to find information about River Valley ice surfaces
- River Valley ice surfaces provide an outdoor recreational option for Edmontonians to stay active
