Insight Community Survey Results

Tiny Homes was one of two topics from the October 2018 Mixed Topic survey.   The survey was open from October 9 - 16, 2018. 
At the time the survey was launched survey invitations were sent to 9,617 Insight Community Members.
A total of 2,821 members completed the survey:
  • 2,800 members (or 29% of the invited Insight Community members),
  • 8 individuals from the call to action button on our webpage and 
  • 13 using the anonymous link(s) on edmonton.ca/surveys.  No demographic information was gathered for these 16 individuals.

Question 1 (part 1):

Respondents were shown two example pictures of tiny homes to help explain what they look like. A brief description of the services needed and the amenities of the unit was also provided. Respondents were then asked to rate their level of support on a scale of 1 to 5 or Don't know to the statement:
"Allowing one tiny home on wheels in the rear yard of a single detached house, provided it follows the same rules as garden suites"

Question 1 (part 2):

Respondents were shown two example pictures of tiny homes to help explain what they look like. A brief description of the services needed and the amenities of the unit was also provided. Respondents were then asked to rate their level of support on a scale of 1 to 5 or Don't know to the statement: 
"Allowing owners to move tiny homes on wheels on and off of a property as desired, provided they follow the same rules as garden suites when they are on the site"

Question 2:

Respondents were then provided an explanation/description of RVs and how similar they are to a tiny home. Then respondents were asked to rate their level of support on a scale of 1 to 5 or Don't know to the statement:
"Allowing RVs to be considered garden suites, provided they follow the same rules as garden suites, and are safe and livable in all seasons"
